KSCSTE Post-Doctoral Fellowship Programme
About KSCSTE Post-Doctoral Fellowship Programme
Holders of a Ph.D. in science and engineering who have strong research publications in SCI journals can receive KSCSTE Post-Doctoral Fellowships. The programme pushes Ph.D. holders to carry on with research and build careers as scientists. A screening cum selection committee picks candidates after looking at the quality of the proposal, the presentation and discussion, publication details, and academic records/recognitions, among other things. The fellowship has to be used for research at an institution in India other than the department or institute where the candidate did the Ph.D. work. > Objectives of the scheme:
- Nurture the research aptitude of Doctorate holders in Science & Technology.
- Encourage Ph. D holders to keep researching and build careers as scientists.
- Inspire fellows and give them the skills to become lifelong learners while building technical and leadership skills.
Necessary conditions as per the scheme:
- The researcher must work under a Scientist Mentor who is regular faculty/staff of the institution and has at least 5 or more years of service remaining before retirement. The mentor is expected to keep track of the project’s progress, help the programme run smoothly, and make sure the institute sends financial utilization certificates to KSCSTE on time.
- A Post-Doctoral Fellow getting financial assistance/stipend from other State/Central funding agencies or other sources cannot hold the KSCSTE Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the same time, and must give an undertaking that He/She is not receiving such assistance/stipend from any other source simultaneously.
- Full infrastructure, including a laboratory, computer, library, communication, accommodation, water, and electricity, has to be provided by the implementing Institute so the project runs smoothly.
- Any part of the grant left unused at the end of the project, together with the interest earned, must be returned to the Council by DD in favour of Member Secretary, KSCSTE
- Technical/scientific papers based on research done under the project must acknowledge KSCSTE’s support.
- Collaboration with a foreign party (individual/ industry) is not allowed for the Post-Doctoral Fellow unless the Council has approved it in advance.
