About Grant of Subsidy for Purchase of Mobile Sea Food Van
Started in 2010 under the “Puducherry Development of Shore Based Facilities, Ice Plants, Service Unit, Infrastructural Facilities, and Quick Transport Facilities Rules, 2010”, the “Grant of Subsidy for Purchase of Mobile Sea Food Van” is run by the Department of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare, Government of Puducherry. It equips fisherwomen, fisherwomen self-help groups and Fisherwomen Co-operative Societies in the Union territory of Puducherry with a mobile seafood van, paid for by a bank loan (25%) and a departmental subsidy (75%). The van is used to sell fresh and processed fish and fishery products where regular markets are absent, with an emphasis on hygiene and fair prices for the public.
