About Goa State Best Library and Best Librarian Award
Devised by the Directorate of Art and Culture, Government of Goa, the “Goa State Best Library and Best Librarian Award” honours, every year, one outstanding Library and one Librarian working in any Government or Government–aided Library in Goa, covering Public/Academic/Special/Research Libraries.
Objective
The award acknowledges the dedication of library managements and Librarians, and seeks to motivate and encourage them by honouring their contribution to the library movement.

Posthumous awards are not given. If, however, the person dies after the Award Committee has recommended his/her name, the award will be given posthumously. Outstanding service by any person in the library movement may also be recognised and considered up to one year after the person's death or retirement.

One deserving librarian working in any Government, Government-aided Library in the State of Goa, including Public/Academic/Special/Research Libraries etc., will receive the award. NOTE: If nobody of the required standard is found, the award will not be given that year.

Exclusions / Who Is Not Eligible
**The award shall not be conferred posthumously.** However, in the event of death of the individual after recommendation of his/her name for the award by the Award Committee, the award shall be conferred posthumously. Further, any illustrious service of any individual in the field of library movement shall also be recognized and considered for the award not beyond one year of death or retirement of the individual.
