About Gen Next Competition
Run by the Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles, and Khadi Dept, Government of Tamil Nadu, the “Gen Next Competition” is meant to keep Tamil Nadu’s traditional handicrafts alive by handing them down to the coming generation. Since young people need to be inspired to take up these crafts, the department began holding a craft competition from 2013-2014 onwards, open to artisans who are below 30 years of age.
