Farm Machinery Bank (FMB)/Farm Machinery Hub (FMH)
About Farm Machinery Bank (FMB)/Farm Machinery Hub (FMH)
Launched in 2023 under the Farm Mechanization Umbrella Scheme to set up Farm Machinery Banks (FMB), the “Farm Machinery Bank (FMB)/Farm Machinery Hub (FMH)” scheme continues into 2024-25. It aims to generate jobs for rural youth/entrepreneurs by helping them set up Hubs, with particular focus on areas where farm power availability is low. > Objective of the scheme:
- Creating self-employment for rural youth and other entrepreneurs.
- Enabling end-to-end use of farm machinery (from land development through residue management) that small and marginal farmers can access at affordable charges.
- Countering the high expense of owning farm machinery on small landholdings.
- Encouraging primary processing units such as dal mills, oil mills, grinding machinery etc. & setting up seed processing units.
- Raising farm power availability from the current 2.30 KW/ha to 2.50 KW/ha, in line with the Government of India’s vision.
Area of Operation: The scheme applies uniformly across the whole State, excluding Kolkata district.
Choice of Machinery:
- The machinery/implements eligible for FMB/FMH are listed in Annexure-IV-A of the 2024-25 operational guidelines (Page No. 41). Before online applications open, the SPMT will publish the models of various farm machines registered on the Matirkatha portal along with indicative prices, so applicants can pick more than one machine/implement from the list for their FMB/FMH. For primary processing units such as dal mills, oil mills, grinding machinery etc. and seed processing units, applicants may choose a single machine from Annexure-IV-A with a minimum project cost of ₹10,00,000/- to set up the FMB/FMH.
The list is only indicative, not exhaustive; suitable farm machinery not on it may be added to the project in line with the latest SMAM guideline to suit local conditions, with SPMT approval.
For any machinery not on the list, the subsidy share will be worked out using the latest SMAM guidelines, with SPMT approval. - To claim AIF benefits for AMC, Insurance and the cost of a shed for the FMB/FMH, proper supporting papers (an estimate vetted by the competent authority, quotation, invoice) must be submitted with the project.
