Decentralized People’s Nursery
About Decentralized People’s Nursery
Run by the Social Forestry wing of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & Head of the Forest Force (HoFF), Government of Gujarat, the “Decentralized People’s Nursery” scheme encourages afforestation to raise farmers’ earnings and expand tree cover. Individuals and institutions wishing to grow seedlings can seek assistance, and each applicant is usually set a target of 20,000 seedlings. Importantly, the seedlings belong to the beneficiary, who may sell or use them without anyone else’s permission. Payment for the plants raised is released in installments, and the Forest Department implements the scheme.
