About Chief Minister Sustainable Agriculture Irrigation Scheme – Magel Tyala Shettale (Individual Farm Pond)

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development & Fishries Department, Maharashtra State, introduced the Chief Minister Sustainable Agriculture Irrigation Scheme-Magel Tyala Shettale (Individual Farm Pond) in the year 2022-23 (vide G.R. Dated 29 th June, 2022). Each individual farmer can receive a subsidy of at least Rs.14433/- and at most Rs.75000/-, with the amount depending on how large the farm pond is.

As much as 82 percent of the state’s farmland is rainfed and relies entirely on rainfall. When rains are unevenly spread or stop for stretches, the resulting water stress cuts crop output sharply and can even wipe out crops altogether. Farm ponds help in such conditions by supplying protective irrigation and greatly reducing crop losses. Keeping this in view, the Maharashtra State Govt. sanctioned the Chief Minister Sustainable Agriculture Irrigation Scheme-Individual Farm Pond vide G.R. Dated 29th June,2022. The scheme covers every district of the state. Depending on the farm pond size, an individual farmer receives a subsidy ranging from a minimum of Rs 14433/- to a maximum of Rs 75000/-. Farmers in the Kokan region need to hold at least 0.20 ha of land, whereas farmers elsewhere in Maharashtra need at least 0.40 ha. Farmers apply online through the Maha-DBT portal, and beneficiaries are also chosen online through the same Maha-DBT portal. Once the farm pond is finished, the subsidy is paid through the PFMS system into the farmer’s bank account linked to their Aadhaar number. Farm ponds come in two types: those with an inlet and outlet, and those without an inlet and outlet. Government Circular dated April 25,2023 approved the implementation of the “Magel TyalaShettale” component under the Chief Minister Sustainable Agriculture Irrigation Scheme. The scheme was renamed “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Krishi Yojana” by GR. dated 18th October 2023.
