About Accidental Death Assistance Scheme- Gujarat Labour Welfare Board
The Gujarat Labour Welfare Board, part of the Labour, Skill Development & Employment Department, Government of Gujarat, runs the “Accidental Death Assistance Scheme”. It gives money to the families of workers (Shramyogis) who die in an accident in the course of their employment, helping the family deal with the sudden loss. Deaths following illness and natural deaths of workers are not covered by the scheme.

The benefit is available only to workers (Shramyogis)…
The benefit is available only to workers (Shramyogis) whose factory/company/organization has paid its Labour Welfare Fund contributions regularly. Note 01: Coverage begins from the day after the worker starts the job. Note 02: The claim must be made within 2 years from the date the worker (Shramyogi) died. Applications arriving after this time limit will be processed at the office. Note 03: For an accidental death inside the factory, the Director, Office of Industrial Safety and Health must provide an accident report. For an accidental death outside the factory/company/organization, an affidavit from the owner/manager of that factory/company/organization must be produced. Note 04: The Welfare Commissioner, with jurisdiction in Ahmedabad, takes the final decision on assistance.
