About Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, confers the “Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award” (TNNAA) to honour achievements in the field of adventure and inspire young people to build endurance, risk-taking ability, cooperative teamwork, and quick, effective reflexes under challenging conditions.
The award comprises a bronze statuette, a certificate, a blazer with a silk tie/a saree, and prize money of ₹ 15,00,000, presented to winners alongside the Arjuna Awards by the Government of India.
Typically, one award is given in each of four categories — Land Adventure, Water (Sea) Adventure, Air Adventure, and Lifetime Achievement for adventure activities across land, sea and air. For the first three categories, achievements over the preceding 3 years are considered, while the Lifetime Achievement award weighs the nominee’s entire career.
Nominations for TNNAA are invited through the portal https://awards.gov.in. Anyone with an outstanding performance record, leadership qualities, a sense of adventure discipline, and sustained achievement in one adventure field — Land, Air, or Water (Sea) — may apply through this portal.
