About Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana
Launched by the Department of Fisheries; Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying; Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) aims to bring about ecologically healthy, economically viable, and socially inclusive development of India’s fisheries sector.
PMMSY is meant to drive a Blue Revolution through sustainable, responsible development of fisheries in India, backed by a total investment of ₹20,050 crore for the holistic development of the sector, including fishers’ welfare. It runs across every State and Union Territory over five years, from FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25. The Union Budget 2023-24 announced a new sub-scheme under PMMSY, backed by ₹6,000 crore, to support fish vendors, fishermen, and micro and small enterprises in improving value chain efficiencies and expanding the market.
