About HRIDAY: Heritage City Development & Augmentation Yojana
Launched on 21 January 2015, “National Heritage City Development and Augmentation Yojana” (HRIDAY) was a Ministry of Tourism central sector scheme bringing together urban planning, economic growth, and heritage conservation in an inclusive way, while preserving cities’ heritage character. Its mission period ended on 31 March 2019. It funded core heritage-linked civic infrastructure projects — revitalising urban infrastructure around cities’ heritage, religious, cultural, and tourism assets — covering water supply, sanitation, drainage, waste management, approach roads, footpaths, street lighting, tourist facilities, electricity wiring, landscaping, and similar citizen services.
