Applicable for replanting existing old/senile and low-productive Arabica and Robusta plantations — aged 25 years for Arabica, 40 years for Robusta, and 15 years for Arabica dwarfs — using either clean replanting or interlining within existing blocks.

Where Arabica is inter-planted within Robusta through clean replanting, the subsidy goes only to Robusta, the main crop.
Where interlining is used in old blocks, the…
Where interlining is used in old blocks, the old/unproductive plants should ideally be removed after one harvest, and in no case beyond two harvests — for instance, if interlining is done in August-September 2017, the old plants should ideally be uprooted after harvesting the standing crop by December 2017 to March 2018, or after harvesting the second crop by December 2018 to March 2019. This keeps root competition low and ensures the newly interlined plants get adequate sunlight for vigorous growth.
In Arabica zones with an elevation of 1000…
In Arabica zones with an elevation of 1000 metres above MSL, old Arabica coffee blocks should be replanted only with disease-tolerant, high-yielding Arabica varieties. In other areas with an elevation below 1000 metres above MSL, suitable for both Arabica and Robusta, existing Arabica blocks replanted with Robusta material are eligible.
In states like Tamil Nadu, where coffee is…
In states like Tamil Nadu, where coffee is grown along with intercrops like pepper, orange, banana, etc., and land documents indicate the extent of each crop separately, the subsidy will be based on the actual extent of the area replanted with coffee, or on the maximum extent of land mentioned in the land documents including other intercrops, whichever is less.
As far as possible, growers should adopt planting…
As far as possible, growers should adopt planting designs suited to mechanization of farm operations. Where an estate adopts such a modified planting design amenable to mechanization, the subsidy will be considered for the entire replanted area rather than based on plant population.
