About DPIIT Internship Scheme
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, runs an internship scheme for students pursuing an Under Graduate/Post Graduate degree, or Research Scholars enrolled at a recognized university or institution in India or abroad. It is meant to expose students to how the Government of India functions and to the schemes run by this Department. Students may choose a duration of one, two, or three months, as suits them. Applications are accepted only in online mode.

The Division/section follows a transparent process to select the student(s), with approval from the concerned Wing Head (AS/JS/DDG) based on requirement, and informs Estt. G Section accordingly. Estt. G Section then obtains approval from Dir/DS (Estt) and issues the internship offer to selected interns. Note 01: The online portal on DPIIT's website remains open from 1st March to 30th April and from 1st September to 31st October each year for receiving student internship applications. Note 02: Applications submitted between 1st March and 30th April are considered for internships during June-August each year. The database of applicants from that window is purged from the server at the end of August. Note 03: Applications submitted between 1st September and 31st October are considered for internships during November-January each year.
