About AICTE- TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY JOINT TRAINING PROGRAMS FOR TEACHERS

AICTE’s Technical University Joint Training Programs for Teachers funds technical universities to train faculty members, helping them succeed in their profession and improve how they teach.

Duration/Type/Participants: Each programme runs as a six-day residential course with at least 40 participants.

Number of Programmes: A university must run 10 such programmes per financial year.

Types of Training: Every programme must cover at least one subject the university teaches — Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computers, Physics, Chemistry, etc. — with at least one 3-hour session dedicated to Moral Values, Ethics, Behavioural Sciences, and Attitude. Universities are also encouraged to draw from these preferred subjects:

1. Examination reforms. 1. Mentor’s training per NITTT norms. 1. Cognitive skills and design thinking. 1. NBA accreditation and its processes. 1. Identifying problems and the double-diamond approach to design. 1. The model curriculum AICTE prescribes. 1. The induction programme for students AICTE prescribes. 1. Managing intellectual property at the early stage of innovation and startups. 1. Frugal innovation and social entrepreneurship.

Infrastructure: Being residential, the university needs adequate infrastructure — a guest house, dining hall, and similar facilities.

Role and Responsibilities of the Technical University:

  • Run the joint training programme strictly per the scheme/MoU provisions.
  • Jointly certify the programme with AICTE, issuing certificates only to participants who pass the mandatory end-of-programme test.
  • Act as the facilitator running the programme.
  • Stay accountable for the sanctioned finance/grants and follow AICTE’s terms and conditions for them.
  • Set up a Project Monitoring Committee to oversee implementation, with AICTE providing a representative member.
  • Submit a yearly report, a detailed expenditure statement, and a Utilization Certificate, in the prescribed format, within a month of each financial year’s end, audited by a certified Chartered Accountant firm — accounts remain open to AICTE inspection and Statutory Auditor review.
  • Submit the required documents to AICTE after each training programme.
